Welcome

Announcement
The final episode of the podcast is broadcast on June 30th 2026. I hope you’ve enjoyed coming along for the ride. I’ve met so many people in the Church Stretton area and I’ve made a good bunch of friends and become established in the town. The reason I started the podcast in the first place was to meet people. I was new to the area in the summer of 2024 having spent a long time in the Far East and Eat Africa.

My idea was to start a new type of podcast – the village podcast – which would bring together people from all sectors of society. I didn’t realise at the time that it would take over my life! For it to have become so popular in other countries still surprises and delights me. I hope they see us as a warm and welcoming rural community farming the land that visitors from all over the world trek across.

I have exhausted all the people and organisations in the area and after putting together one episode a week for 18 months, I am also exhausted. It has eaten up more of my time than I care to admit. I know many of you wait for the next episode to drop every Tuesday and you’ll be disappointed that it’s ended but you can re-listen to any of the episodes forever.

The interviews we have broadcast are important in creating an oral history of the area and the stories passed down through the generations. The Shropshire accent will live on forever thanks to these archives.

Thanks for your support and encouragement… Sian Lovegrove
